Air conditioning installation in Wakefield.
Sized for the room, fitted in a day.
We're F-Gas certified air conditioning installers based ten minutes from Wakefield city centre, at Sandbeds in Ossett. We fit split and multi-split air con in Wakefield homes, flats and business premises: survey first, a unit sized to the room rather than guessed at, a tidy pipe run, and a system that also heats the room in winter as an air-to-air heat pump.
What we install
Air con systems we fit in Wakefield.
Wall-mounted split air con
One indoor unit, one outdoor unit and a single pipe run between them. The usual choice for a bedroom, a living room, a loft conversion or a home office.
Multi-split systems
Two or more indoor units running off one outdoor unit, so a whole upstairs or a run of rooms can be cooled without a row of condensers on the back wall.
Ceiling cassettes
Fitted into a suspended ceiling, throwing air four ways across an office, shop floor or salon with nothing on the walls.
Air-to-air heat pumps
Almost every unit we fit is reverse-cycle, so the same installation heats the room through winter as well as cooling it in July.
How an installation goes
From the first visit to a working system.
Every air conditioning installation in Wakefield starts with a look at the room. We measure it, note which way the windows face and how much glass there is, and work out where the indoor unit can go so it throws air across the room rather than straight at the bed or the desk. That tells us the capacity it needs: too small and it runs flat out all summer, too big and it short-cycles and never takes the damp out of the air.
Then we find a home for the outdoor unit — a back wall, a flat roof or the ground on brackets or feet — that keeps the pipe run short and the noise away from your neighbours' windows. On a Wakefield terrace that often means going through the back wall into the yard; on a newer estate it's usually the side of the house. You get an itemised quote with all of that written down before anything is drilled.
On the day, most domestic installs are done in a single day: one core hole, the pipework and cabling run neatly in trunking, the outdoor unit set level, the system pressure-tested and vacuumed, then charged and commissioned. We show you the remote and the app before we leave, and the job is logged for its F-Gas records.
Houses and flats in Wakefield
Domestic air conditioning installation, house by house.
Wakefield's housing changes every mile out from the cathedral. The Georgian and Victorian brick around St John's and Westgate has deep walls, tall ceilings and sash windows, which means larger rooms to size for and a careful route for the pipework. The terraces out through Belle Vue, Eastmoor and Agbrigg are quick, tidy installs where the outdoor unit sits in the yard. The newer estates at City Fields, Lofthouse and out towards Kirkhamgate are well insulated and lose little heat, but their south-facing bedrooms and big glazed living rooms are exactly the rooms that cook in a heatwave.
City-centre flats need the building's permission for the outdoor unit and sometimes a different place to put it — a balcony, a flat roof or a shared plant area. We'll tell you what the management company is likely to want to know and give you the details to send them.

Questions, answered straight
Air conditioning installation in Wakefield — FAQs
Most homes are done in a single day, from the first drill hole to a fully working, commissioned system. A multi-split across several rooms, or a job with a long pipe run, can take longer, and we'll tell you that when we quote rather than on the day.
It depends on the size of the room, how many indoor units you want and how far the pipework has to run, so we quote each job after a quick look at the space. The quote is itemised, with no hidden extras and no surprises on the day.
Most houses don't, because a single outdoor unit usually counts as permitted development as long as it meets the size and siting limits. Listed buildings, conservation areas such as the streets around St John's, and flats are different, and we'll flag it at the survey if your property needs a check with Wakefield Council or the freeholder first.
Modern units are quiet, and we site them to keep it that way: away from bedroom windows where we can, on anti-vibration mounts, and with the pipe run kept short. Part of the survey is checking where your neighbours' windows are, too.
Yes. Almost every system we fit is reverse-cycle, so it runs as an air-to-air heat pump in winter and warms the room for a fraction of what a plug-in heater would cost.
Cost, what a service covers, and how air con and an air-to-air heat pump differ are answered in our general FAQs.
